Dr. McGowan graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a B.S. in biology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1971 and served an internship at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center from 1971 to 1972. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the Arkansas Medical Society and the Pulaski County Medical Society.

Dr. McGowan is married and has five children, three sons, and two daughters. His hobbies are fly fishing and triathlons. He is a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

Dr. McGowan is retired, but still enjoys spending time at the Little Rock Family Practice!
